Description of Services: Use of live interactive videoconferencing to provide a patient consultation * valuable medical data can be transferred electronically to a healthcare specialist using a stethoscope and camera to see images and hear breath sounds

Providing health care services at a distance increases access to medical specialty consultations, reduced travel time for patients and cost savings for families

The telemedicine coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating all telemedicine consultations. A patient can be at Headwaters and talk to a specialist who is somewhere else. A Telemedicine suite at HHCC provides the medical equipment, camera and other communication devices needed for this service

Fees: Most services are covered by OHIP
Application: Medical referral required * All consultation requests must be scheduled through the Telemedicine Program
